BEN CRAIN
Ben Crain – Bassist, Them Dirty Roses
Ben Crain was born and raised in Alabama, where the roots of Southern rock run deep. As the bassist for Them Dirty Roses, he delivers the heavy groove and steady foundation that drives the band’s unmistakable sound.
His playing is equal parts power and precision—holding down the low end while leaving space for soaring guitars and raw vocals. From swampy, slow-burning jams to full-throttle rock anthems, Ben’s bass lines are the backbone of the band’s rhythm section.
Ben’s weapon of choice is his signature Patterson Regulator Bass—a one-of-one instrument built to match his style and presence on stage. Featuring a dirty butter cream top with a bold black pickguard, black limba sides and back, and a highly sculpted neck heel for comfort, the bass is as visually striking as it is sonically powerful. The custom inlays—red roses set into a pale moon ebony fretboard—pay homage to Them Dirty Roses, making this instrument deeply personal and unmistakably his.
With hand-wound pickups and a custom electronics layout, the Regulator delivers massive low-end punch with clarity in every note. Paired with gold hardware, black control knobs, and a headstock proudly featuring a crane motif, this bass stands as both a workhorse and a signature showpiece—a true reflection of Ben himself.
From early days packed into an RV chasing the Nashville dream to commanding festival crowds across the country, Ben has stayed true to his craft. His groove is a signature element of the band’s music, and we’re proud to have him as part of the Patterson Guitars artist family.
Born and raised in the Bama clay, these boys are as southern as they come. Taught how to bend a string and break a heart by Skynyrd and Hank, brothers James and Frank Ford along with their hometown friends Andrew Davis and Ben Crain formed the southern rock band known as Them Dirty Roses. Piling into an RV with their belongings, their instruments, and all the whiskey they could carry (in the cooler), they made their way from Gadsden, AL to Nashville, TN. All living all under one roof, Them Dirty Roses are a living example of the quintessential rock and roll American Dream. Their live show calls for a shot of whiskey and a 2 for 1 special — BUT what that really means is you better be ready to throw back 12 for 6 and shake it with Them Dirty Roses.
